- I have been in the Bathtub, Shower and tile refinishing business since 1991. I handle all work myself and have personally refinished Thousands of surfaces. I bring this experience to each and every job I am on.
- Showing up at your home in a good mood. With a smile on my face. Projecting a professional attitude is also very important to me.
- Doing the work myself is very important to me, I bring with me years of experience. Other companies that choose to use technicians are really voiding out the length of time they have been in business. I mean, who cares if a company has been in business 50 years If they are allowing a technician to do the work that has a few weeks experience. Bathtub Refinishing Dallas TX

Bathtub Refinishing Dallas TX
Bathtub Refinishing Dallas, Mesquite, Garland - Bathtub Refinishing is also known as bathtub resurfacing and bathtub reglazing. Professional bathtub refinishing companies will also refinish not only bathtubs but showers, tile and grout surfaces. Most of the time this will just be shortened and promoted under the term bathtub refinishing. The consumer will find that bathtub, shower, tile refinishing cost fluctuate widely and if the consumer is not knowledgeable about what is truly involved when refinishing a bathtub then they can actually cause themselves a major headache.
Let's first look at a legitimate cost for replacing a bathtub. This also sometimes causes confusion when consumers don't think out what the actual process involves. Bathtubs are usually installed before the finish carpenters finish with the interior of a home. The issue only happens when through age, wear or maybe an outdated color a homeowner decides to replace the bathtub. If you look at your local Home Improvement store you will find that brand new bathtubs are not extremely expensive, usually a few hundred dollars. However, some consumers are not aware that tubs have a lip on the edge surrounding the tub. In order to remove the old bathtub several rows of tile must be removed in order for the contractor to maneuver the bathtub out and away from the tile surround. Then comes the issue of the wall behind the tile possibly being damaged just through age or by the removal process. This is usually nobody's fault, it's just a legitimate expense that can occur when the wall is exposed allowing the contractor to see what could not be seen when the tile was in place. A plumber will need to disconnect the water supply to the old tub and the drain. Now, if you are fortunate enough to have wide hallways and wide doors the old tub can be carried out. However, for those of you that share my luck there is no way to remove the tub without the additional cost of having to widen the door or a wall! As you probably know now we are into several thousand dollars and then trying to match that tile that had to come down to get the tub out is not going to be very likely. Now factor in the dust, the time of having all this done, the actual cost including all labor, material and plumber cost and you can quickly approach the 'What was I thinking Figure'. I know all of us homeowners have approached that dollar amount before haven't we! The excitement of having something done that is ruined by the reality of having it done!
Another option is the bathtub liner. If you price one of these you will see the figure of about $2000.00 is a fair market price.
Now we look at Bathtub Refinishing and we see everything from the D.I.Y. kits sold at Home Improvement stores, we see the youtube videos of people saying 'I used Krylon paint and it looks great'. Lol. I'm not making that up. Then we see professional companies with prices of $150 ; $200 ; $400 ; $600 and the consumer is asking is there really a difference? I mean how hard can it be to just paint a bathtub! Maaco paints entire cars for $400!
Bathtub Refinishing
Okay, let's sort through the half truths, misconceptions and outright lies! The truth is Bathtub Refinishing is Not Bathtub Painting. The D.I.Y. Kits are absolutely not what a professional bathtub refinisher uses. The You Tube videos about Krylon Paint are not showing you what it looks like after it is actually used for a few days! Making something look good for the immediate time being is not very difficult. Making It look great and stay looking great for years... now that is professional quality. The simple way to think of it is like this, when you paint something you are applying paint on top of the old surface. When painting wood or sheet rock it will usually last several years because that surface contains pores and if you have had to 'double or triple coat' something before you understand as the paint absorbs into the surface more coats are added. When having your bathtub, shower, tile or grout refinished you absolutely do not want the surface painted, you want it refinished. Remember when I said painting is applied on top of the old surface? Well, refinishing is the process of chemically fusing not paint, but a multi resin copolymer surface INTO the old surface. This is accomplished through etching the old surface which exposes the pores and creates microscopic scratches all over the old surface. Then a specialized coating (made specifically for Bathtub, shower and Tile Refinishing) is melted in an HVLP spray applicator gun. This machine is for fine finish applications and is like an airbrush on steroids. There are several different coatings available, I use a copolymer coating chemically fused into the old surface, not painted on top of the old surface like Epoxy paint.
